@MariaHill Yes. We'll never achieve perfection in any human endeavor, *especially* when you get a group of us together and there's power and prestige involved. I often think that some of the people who insist upon perfection know it's impossible and they just want an excuse to fail, for some reason.
Those are interesting thoughts. I, too, think it's wise to expect fallability in others. I am fond of a political system with checks and balances as well.
We've been shown our system may need more safeguards to prevent mischief, but, at least, it wasn't structured to be naive about character failings in the first place.
We're a young democracy. I think these are growing pains. I do wish it wasn't so painful.
Thank you! You reminded me of Nelson Mandela's quote, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure."
The full quote is worth meditating on as we contemplate our existential WHY. Why am I here?
Why didn't I just give in and die when I had the chance? Slowly and surely with addiction and indulgence... it was going to happen.
But, then it occurred to me, "No, dammit, no! I will not give them the satisfaction!"
